Tigranuhi cofounded Mer Doon with the late Julie Ashekian in 2005, but the organization did not officially open its doors to orphaned and disadvantaged girls until 2006. She has been the Executive Director of Mer Doon since its 2006, when Mer Doon first opened its doors. She graduated from Echmiadzin State College in 1985 with a degree in Performing Arts Production and Event Planning. Prior to establishing Mer Doon, she worked in her hometown of Spitak as the head of the Cultural Department for the city’s Cultural Center and as an adult leader at the Spitak Youth Cultural Center. She worked for many years as the Marketing Manager for CASP (Children of Armenia Sponsorship Program), which was formed to serve the orphaned and homeless children who lost their parents in the earthquake. From 1993-2005, Mrs. Karapetyan served on the Board of Directors of CASP as its Executive Secretary. In 2012, she received a special medal and commendation from Armenia’s Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, who recognized her for the many years of loving devotion and selfless service to the orphaned and disadvantaged children in Armenia. Over the past 10 years, Tigranuhi has received numerous national and regional awards in recognition of her groundbreaking and visionary work in Armenia's social sector.
