Tigranuhi Karapetyan, Executive Director & Co-Founder

Tigranuhi cofounded Mer Doon with the late Julie Ashekian in 2005, but the organization did not officially open its doors to orphaned and disadvantaged girls until 2006.  She has been the Executive Director of Mer Doon since its 2006, when Mer Doon first opened its doors. She graduated from Echmiadzin State College in 1985 with a degree in Performing Arts Production and Event Planning. Prior to establishing Mer Doon, she worked in her hometown of Spitak as the head of the Cultural Department for the city’s Cultural Center and as an adult leader at the Spitak Youth Cultural Center. She worked for many years as the Marketing Manager for CASP (Children of Armenia Sponsorship Program), which was formed to serve the orphaned and homeless children who lost their parents in the earthquake.  From 1993-2005, Mrs. Karapetyan served on the Board of Directors of CASP as its Executive Secretary.  In 2012, she received a special medal and commendation from Armenia’s Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, who recognized her for the many years of loving devotion and selfless service to the orphaned and disadvantaged children in Armenia. Over the past 10 years, Tigranuhi has received numerous national and regional awards in recognition of her groundbreaking and visionary work in Armenia's social sector.

Mariam Kirakosyan, Deputy Director

Mrs. Kirakosyan has been working at Mer Doon since 2006.  She holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from Yerevan Polytechnic University.  She has also participated in teacher training for religious teaching instructors, and completed the entire course at the Christian Preaching Centre of Ararat Patriarchal Diocese.  Before coming to Mer Doon, Mrs. Kirakosyan worked as an engineering technologist, and later as a Religion teacher at the Armenian Apostolic Church Christian Education and Preaching Centre.  Currently, she works part-time as a Religion teacher at Echmiadzin Children’s Center.  She holds certificates from Save the Children for her participation in the training program titled, The Protection of Children from Violence and Positive Parenting.

Maro Dilanyan, Bookkeeper

Mrs. Dilanyan began working at Mer Doon in 2007  She is a graduate of Yerevan State  University in Finance and Credit.  Before working at Mer Doon, she worked for more than 30 years as the chief accountant for several local companies.  Mrs. Dilanyan has passed the accountants' training program administered by the Accountancy Training International Centre Educational Foundation and Association of Accountants and Auditors of Armenia.   She also holds a certificate  from participating in a seminar titled, Tax Reform Changes and Support Business Development.

Naira Abrahamyan, Office Adminstrator

Ms. Abrahamyan began working at Mer Doon in 2009.  Her position is HR manager, Office Adminstrator and technology advisor.  She received her university degree from Yerevan “INTERLINGVA” Linguistic University, specializing in English Language and Education.  Before becoming a staff member, she worked for Mer Doon as an English teacher.  She holds certificates from Save the Children for her participation in the training program titled, The Protection of Children from Violence and Positive Parenting.

Ruzanna Gasparyan, Social Worker & Teacher

Mrs. Gasparyan began working at Mer Doon in 2009 as the in-house, full-time social worker.  She is a graduate of Yerevan State Linguistic University (V. Brusov) majoring in English & French Languages; she also studied Education at Yerevan State University in the Department of Sociology/Social Work.  Prior to coming to Mer Doon, Mrs. Gasparyan worked as a secondary school teacher for 8 years.  She holds certificates from Save the Children for her participation in the training program titled, The Protection of Children from Violence and Positive Parenting.

Gayane Galstyan, Night Director

Gayane came to Mer Doon in 2006.  She works part-time as one of two Night Directors.  She leads the evening education programs, and also teaches Art History. She enforces Mer Doon's strict curfew and spends the night in the house with the girls, leaving in the morning when the daytime staff arrives.

Karine Gyarakyan, Night Director

​Karine came to Mer Doon in 2018.  She works part-time as one of two Night Directors.  She leads the evening education programs, and also teaches handworks. She enforces Mer Doon's strict curfew and spends the night in the house with the girls, leaving in the morning when the daytime staff arrives.

Anyuta Balasanyan, Handcrafts & Decorative Arts

Anya began working at Mer Doon in 2014.  She works part-time and comes on Saturdays and Sundays. She teaches handcrafts, homemaking, and interior design.  She assists wit presentations and exhibitions.

Vahan Karapetyan, Logistics & Procurement Manager

Vhan has been volunteering at Mer Doon since 2006.  He assumes responsibility for all procurement needs and building maintenance.  He is a construction engineer and contractor by profession.
