Julie Ashekian, Late Founder

Julie's work with orphans began shortly after the 1988 earthquake in Armenia. She served as National Coordinator of Children of Armenia Sponsorship Program (CASP) from 1992-2003, when numerous construction and renovation projects were accomplished under her guidance. During her tenure with CASP, the needs of more than 9000 orphans were addressed. Mrs. Ashekian founded Mer Doon along with Armenia based co-founder Tigranoohi Karapetian and served as a U.S. Board liaison for the program. In addition to considering the thousands of orphans in Armenia as her own family, Mrs. Ashekian passed away in May 2014 after a long battle with cancer.  She is survived by her husband, Clement, and a son and daughter, and three grandchildren.

Stephen Ashekian, Chairman of the Board

With more than 25 years of experience as a senior member of some of the nation’s largest investment banks, Stephen knows the value and importance of developing strong and lasting relationships and partnerships. That ability culminated in Stephen managing one of the larger trading desks in Boston and transforming that entity from a $10 million to a near $40 million dollar per year producer. After his career in financial services and following his entrepreneurial spirit, Stephen went on to be co-founder of OpenExchange, a financial services, cloud-based service company that combines the simplicity of desktop video conferencing with the access of a trusted industry network and the assurance of secure industry workflows. The service is currently being used by many of the world's top financial institutions, and corporate clients.

As CEO, Stephen comes to Gloucester Street Capital bringing with him, not only many years of business and managerial skills, but also a personal agenda. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Mer Doon, an orphanage based in Armenia. The orphanage was started by Stephen's mother, who passed away in 2014.
